Hydrological Studies for Hydrological Study for 110kV OHTL

The objective of this project is to conduct a comprehensive hydrological study for the 110kV overhead transmission line (OHTL) from Al-Salam BSP to Bawat Substation in Madinah. Flood-prone areas were identified, and potential risks to tower foundations were assessed, with recommendations provided for flood protection measures and possible tower relocations.

Project output:

  • Drone-based topographic survey of the OHTL corridor (RoW) was carried out.
  • Identification of streams and catchments through hydrological analysis.
  • Calculation of catchment parameters (area, slope, flow path, time of concentration).
  • Rainfall and hydrologic analysis to estimate peak flows and runoff, plus hydraulic modeling for water depth and velocity calculation.
  • Flood risk assessment and identification of flood-prone areas.
  • Recommendations for flood protection and towers relocations.
